The Cleveland Browns have received a lot of recognition during this year’s NFL Honors. Browns DE Myles Garrett won Defensive Player of the Year and head coach Kevin Stefanski narrowly won Coach of the Year. Now, Flacco joins the list of Browns being recognized for their spectacular seasons tonight.
Joe Flacco Wins NFL Comeback Player of the Year
During the NFL Honors show, it was revealed that Joe Flacco won the 2023 NFL Comeback Player of the Year award. He did this at 38 years old after signing with the Browns in the middle of the season. So, just how good of a season did Flacco have?
Flacco started five games for the Browns this season. During those five games, he had 1,616 passing yards and 13 touchdown passes.
Cleveland Browns Quarterback Carousel
Part of the reason why Flacco won this award despite only starting five games is the Browns’ quarterback situation throughout the year. Cleveland had five different quarterbacks start this season. Besides Flacco, these quarterbacks included Deshaun Watson, P.J. Walker, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, and Jeff Driskel. However, it was Flacco that led the Browns to a playoff appearance.
Close Vote
Many people likely expected Damar Hamlin to win Comeback Player of the Year. However, he came up just short. The final vote was 151-140 in favor of Flacco. Baker Mayfield came in third place.
