The Cleveland Browns had a season to remember. Led by Myles Garrett, they were able to make a playoff appearance despite having a quarterback carousel all season. Now, Garrett is getting recognized for his accomplishments this season.
Cleveland Browns DE Myles Garrett Wins AP Defensive Player of the Year
During the NFL Honors show, Garrett was announced as the winner of the AP Defensive Player of the Year award. Garrett was able to edge Pittsburgh Steelers LB T.J. Watt out for it. So, what did Garrett do to deserve this honor?
Garrett had 14 sacks, 33 solo tackles, and four forced fumbles. Considering Garrett is making $30 million per year until 2026, it is safe to say he is living up to his large contract.
Competition for the Award
Who else did Garrett beat out for this award? He had 165 total points to win the award. Watt was the closest one to Garrett, finishing with 140 points during the vote.
Dallas Cowboys LB Micah Parsons finished in third place with 89 points. The only others with double digits were Las Vegas Raiders DE Maxx Crosby (21) and Dallas Cowboys CB DaRon Bland (14).
