The Cleveland Browns have confirmed who their starting quarterback will be in their week eight matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. P.J. Walker will get the start this weekend for the team after finishing the game in last week’s win over the Indianapolis Colts when Deshaun Watson was officially ruled out of the matchup. This news comes from NFL insider and analyst Dov Kleiman via Twitter.

Cleveland Browns Quarterback Issues
Head coach Kevin Stefanski addressed the media today regarding the decision to start Walker this week and how Watson is recovering from his shoulder injury. He said, “I just feel like with what happened in the game, landing on his shoulder, there’s residual swelling that’s affecting his throwing– I think it’s the best thing for [Deshaun Watson] to rest this week and focus on the rehab.”
Watson suffered an injury to his shoulder back in week three against the Tennessee Titans and has been dealing with it ever since. He did not play against the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers and was able to finally come back for the game against the Colts. It seems that it is not fully healed just yet as he was taken out of the game and will now miss this week as well.
Going Forward
As for Walker, he has played in two games this season for Cleveland. He has amounted to 370 passing yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions. He will have to step up big time as Watson’s injury could cause him to miss significant time this season. Luckily for the Browns, they have the best defense in the league which should be able to withstand Geno Smith and the Seahawks offense.
The injuries continue to pile up for Watson as we enter the eighth week of the 2023 season, and Cleveland fans are not happy about it. He is currently on a five-year, $230 million deal that was questionable to begin with due to his history. We will see how long he will be out for and if Walker is ready to take over as the starter.
