2015 was the last time the Clemson Tigers took a trip to Miami, but this year’s team is back with a shot at three straight wins. In their way are none other than the Miami Hurricanes, who are trying to stop a brutal two-game skid. Neither team is in a great position for an ACC championship, but winning out is still each program’s best shot.
Something has to give when these 4-2 teams collide this weekend. Is Miami locked for a home win, or does Clemson have its swagger back?

Key Stats
Clemson Tigers
Clemson’s defense is still incredible, holding opponents to the fifth-fewest yards per game (261.8) nationwide. It has led to only 19.3 points against them per week, a number that only Duke and Florida State (both ranked) have exceeded this season. The Tigers allow 86.3 per game on the ground (8th nationally) and 175.5 yards through the air.
The offense is putting up 32.2 points per game while gaining 437.3 yards. Against conference foes, those numbers dip to 19.8 points and 394.5 yards. They average 249.2 passing yards per game, and starting quarterback Cade Klubnik only has two interceptions. Will Shipley paces a rushing attack picking up 188.2 yards per contest.
Miami Hurricanes
Meanwhile, Miami brings an offense that’s racking up 501.8 yards per game (7th in the nation) to the field this Saturday. Most of it comes through Tyler Van Dyke’s right arm, resulting in 310.8 passing yards per game, the 14th-most nationally. Their 37.3 points per game ranks 13th in the country, and only one school has held Miami under 31 points.
The Hurricanes are giving up only 19.0 points per game this year, but that number bumps up to 32.3 against Power Five foes. Miami’s pass rush has collected 16 sacks to offset 220.7 passing yards allowed per contest. On the ground, their opponents are only averaging 87.7 yards each week.
Game Prediction
While the Clemson Tigers can stop most teams from scoring, that dominance becomes moot if they also can’t score. Miami’s defense has been tough against the run almost every week. Clemson is capable of passing the ball well, but it’s not what that offense wants to rely on for 60 minutes.
Then, a Miami offense that is one of college football’s deadliest will get their chances in front of a loud home crowd. The Hurricanes can move the ball on anyone, and Clemson won’t get enough stops in this one. Miami hits the 30-point mark again, a number that’s too high for the Tigers.
