The Chicago Bears seem to have made up their mind in regards to Justin Fields’ future with their organization: there won’t be one. After three seasons with little improvement, the Bears appear poised to use the number one overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on USC standout Caleb Williams, the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner.

The key word, of course, being “appear.” Nothing will be official until it is, and Fields is still a Bear until he isn’t. That being said, the strong assumption is that he will be traded and that Chicago is simply looking for the best deal.
The Chicago Bears Could Trade Justin Fields to Any Number of NFL Teams
There are several quarterback-needy teams out there that may be interested in adding Fields at the right price. Some of these teams, like the Bears themselves, however, will be looking to add a young quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft. These teams, the Washington Commanders and New England Patriots, are not a big part of the Fields trade rumor machine.
Other teams, though, like the Pittsburgh Steelers, Las Vegas Raiders, Atlanta Falcons, and even Chicago’s division rival Minnesota Vikings are all in a position where they need a quarterback, but do not have a good enough draft pick to get one. As a result, rumors have linked Fields to all of these teams in recent days.
The Falcons, of course, are a rather intriguing team because Fields is from Georgia.
Justin Fields Addresses the Possibility of Playing for the Atlanta Falcons
Fields was a guest on a podcast hosted by teammate Equanimeous St. Brown and his brother, Detroit Lions All-Pro wide receiver Amon-Ra St, Brown. During their interview with the former Ohio State standout, they asked Fields what he thought about playing for his home-state team:
Justin Fields talking about the #Falcons: “Atlanta would be tough… I think they got a lot of playmakers on the team. Bijan, my boy Kyle [Pitts], and of course Drake [London]. They probably need one more receiver, but they got some guys.”

“Atlanta would be tuff. The only con of going back home would be people hitting up my phone like crazy. Wanting tickets to the game.
“But I think they have a lot of playmakers on the team. Bijan [Robinson], they got by boy Kyle [Pitts], and of course Drake [London]. They probably need one more receiver, but they got some guys over there.”
If too many ticket requests from friends and family is the biggest drawback for Fields, it sounds like the Falcons may be really good fit.
What Would It Take for the Atlanta Falcons to Get Justin Fields in a Trade?
The Bears are asking for a late first round pick in exchange for Fields. The Falcons, of course, are picking eighth, and would not want to give up a top-ten pick for Fields anyway.
In lieu of a late first round pick, Atlanta could package a second and third round pick, which have the same value as a late third round pick. If Chicago were to accept a trade involving those picks (and maybe a pick swap of eight and nine), the Falcons would get their quarterback of the future (hopefully) and could still use a top-ten pick on a wide receiver.
