The Chicago Bears are in the market for a defensive coordinator. This comes after Alan Williams resigned from the position back in September. Now, you will not believe who the Bears plan on interviewing to replace him.
Chicago Bears Interviewing Joe Barry
According to Jane Slater of the NFL Network, the Chicago Bears plan on interviewing Joe Barry for their defensive coordinator position. This comes after recent reports that the Green Bay Packers were not planning on bringing Barry back. Barry spent the last three seasons as the defensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers.
Improving Pass Defense
One thing the Bears are likely looking to do is improve their pass defense. Chicago ranked 25th in passing yards allowed per game (237.8) this season. Green Bay ranked 9th (206.8) in this category.
Chicago Bears Moving Forward
The Chicago Bears have a lot of decisions to make this offseason besides their defensive coordinator. They were also in the market for an offensive coordinator. However, Chicago has announced that they were going to hire former Seahawks OC Shane Waldron to replace Luke Getsy.
On top of this, they need to decide if they are going to keep the #1 overall pick for the 2024 NFL Draft. If the Bears choose to do so, it likely means the end of Justin Fields as the Bears’ quarterback.
