The Chicago Bears traded quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a conditional sixth-round draft pick. The pick will improve to a fourth-rounder if Fields plays over 51% of the snaps in 2024.
Rumors, gossip, theories, and hearsay about Justin Fields’s trade value have been put to bed. Everything was floated, from possibly trading him for a first-round pick to a used washing machine. It fell somewhere in the middle.
The Chicago Bears traded a sixth-round conditional pick in 2025 for Fields. That pick can improve to a fourth-rounder if Justin plays over 51% of the snaps in 2024.
The catch on that snap percentage stipulation is Russell Wilson has already been named the starter.

Chicago Bears Players React
Many broken hearts reside in the Bears’ locker room. Teammates publicly praised Justin. He was beloved. Teammates, peers, and opponents were outspoken about Justin being allowed to keep his job as the Bears’ starting QB.
Now that Fields is gone, a few of those peers have spoken about his departure.

A 2025 6th round pick that potentially turns into a 4th for Justin Fields? MY GAWD, the Chicago Bears completely mismanaged the Justin Fields trade market this offseason.

Today isn’t easy but it’s a business.

Bears Media Greives Over the Loss
Bears media wanted Fields to be the guy. They craved it. After trading up for Mitchell Trubisky and seeing that fail, we wanted nothing but success for the dynamic quarterback. There was criticism, but at no point did they question his ability to lead, be a good teammate, or his desire to be a top-tier quarterback. If anything, they criticized the pieces around him more.
With that. I wish Justin Fields the best of luck in Pittsburgh. I hope he is eventually the starter there and finds success. #Bears

The Bears failed Justin Fields during his time in Chicago.
You'll never convince me otherwise.
— Dave (@dave_bfr) March 16, 2024
The bears failed Justin.
Justin didn't do enough to prove his worth.
Both can be true.
— Ficky (@itsfickybaby) March 16, 2024
How should the Justin Fields era should be remembered in Chicago? Will the Bears regret moving on from him?
In the end, a fresh start is likely best for both sides.
My long story looking back at the hope and promise … and so much more. https://t.co/pUZEcedLT3

The way Justin Fields handled the ups and downs. The criticism. The pressure. Second to none. Chicago can eat you alive.
But he never wavered or got bitter. Will always appreciate that. https://t.co/D2a1j6ETmW

I know this hasn’t been what people wanted to hear but this has been much more about Caleb Williams vs the other top 3 QBs in this class than it has been about Caleb Williams vs Justin Fields.
When every locked in national media source is in lockstep, believe it. #Bears

Some say humor is the best medicine for all.
Chase Claypool and a conditional 4th for Justin Fields and pick #32.
Someone needs to delete Omar Khan’s number from Ryan Poles’ phone.

Who had Russel Wilson and Justin Fields fighting it out to be the starter on the same team in 2024 on their offseason bingo cards?
— Nintendo Prime (@NintyPrime) March 16, 2024
Meanwhile the Cowboys traded a 4th for Trey Lance 🤡

Overall, the sentiment seems to be it was not Justin’s fault. The Bears organization let him down in his limited window in Chicago. Many people are supportive of Justin and his future endeavors.
I wish things had gone differently for Justin Fields. The Bears failed him. I’m rooting for him in Pittsburgh. But Caleb Williams is the future and I’m happy we can stop with all the turmoil and move forward #InPolesWeTrust

I genuinely feel bad for Justin Fields for how it was from the minute he was drafted
Head coach and GM were out the door after year 1
No weapons in year 2 / tanking roster
After Year 3 the Bears wind up with the number one pick with a QB they can’t afford to pass on
It truly…

It had to happen. Best thing for everyone. Now we draft Caleb Williams and go from there.

Future with the Pittsburgh Steelers
Tomlin has already said Justin Fields will start behind Russell Wilson. Justin will have to earn his way as the starter. In other interviews, Tomlin also stated that he loves what Justin Fields brings to the table, so we shall see how it plays out.
