BREAKING: Chicago Bears Trade Justin Fields To AFC Playoff Contender For Measly Compensation; In Line To Receive Conditional Day 3 Pick In 2025

The Chicago Bears intriguing offseason continues with another big move.

Having made it fairly clear that the team was likely to move on from incumbent starting quarterback, Justin Fields, in favor of resetting the rookie “clock” with what many consider a “generational” talent in Caleb Williams, it seemed only a matter of time before Fields was traded away.

Chicago Bears Initially Struggled To Find Business Partner For Fields

However, despite reporters and media mistakenly thinking that the Bears could receive up to a 1st round pick for the former Ohio State star’s services, contradicting reports came out prior to free agency that the market for Fields had very much dried up.

It seems like Chicago was holding out for at least a day 2 pick; yet when it became clear that this would not materialize, and seemingly ever other quarterback on the market signed, or was traded to a new team, the Chicago Bears knew they had to act.

And act they have, as it seems now that, per Ian Rapoport, the Chicago Bears have traded their current quarterback, Justin Fields, to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It’s a conditional 6th round pick that can become a fourth rounder going to the #Bears. And a new era in Chicago https://t.co/jE65yV0jzm

Justin Fields will now move to a team that has developed two (one future) hall of famers in Ben Roethlisberger and Terry Bradshaw, both of whom won Super Bowls with the franchise.

That is two more Hall of Fame QBs than the Chicago Bears have produced since the days of Sid Luckman.

However, it has been announced, per Adam Schefter, that new addition, Russell Wilson, will remain the starter, which he has been since Kenny Pickett was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles, due to his poor response to Wilson joining the team.

Justin Fields will have an opportunity to sit behind the Super Bowl champion and develop in a well-run franchise. Whilst Wilson, who may not be thrilled with the signing, will be able to boost his declining reputation amongst former teammates by showing willingness to mentor the talented young QB.

All in all, this feels like a win for Fields, who will have an opportunity to learn away from offensive dysfunction, whilst the Bears will certainly feel hard done by with their poor compensation returns, but at least managed to get something back for the player they once traded 2 1st round draft picks to select at 11th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.
