The Los Angeles Chargers defeat the Cleveland Browns 30-28 to put their record at 3-2 for the season. They were able to rally from a 14-0 deficit to get a huge road win. Austin Ekeler had another big game with 16 carries for 173 yards and one rushing touchdown. He also added another touchdown reception on a screen pass. Mike Williams is playing like a true WR1 hauling in 10 receptions for 134 yards. The defense played well when it mattered most with stops in key moments. As usual with Charger games though, it came down to the wire in a way you would least expect. Another questionable fourth down decision by Staley almost cost the team a victory. But at the end of the day, a win is a win.
Chargers First Half
The Chargers defensive troubles stopping the run rose up again early. Nick Chubb scored a touchdown on the first drive. A 41yd run making people miss, breaking tackles, and finishing with a stiff arm to Khalil Mack. The Chargers offense would turn the ball over on downs on their first possession. Justin Herbert was unable to convert on fourth and two to Mike Williams.

The Browns were able to capitalize on the Chargers missed opportunity. Jacoby Brissett was able to find Amari Cooper in the back left of the endzone for a touchdown. Cooper was able to beat JC Jackson with clean route running. Setting him up inside then cutting back outside which created the separation needed. This gave the Browns a 14-0 lead. It’s hard to tell if JC Jackson is still recovering his ankle injury or if he is just not living up to the hype.

Chargers finally got some offense going on their next possession. Austin Ekeler breaks a 71yd run to put Los Angeles in scoring position. They got a field goal to cut the deficit to 14-3. Their next drive ended with a touchdown. Joshua Kelley gets his first rushing touchdown of the season. The Chargers were then able to take the lead on a 12 play 99 yard drive. Herbert stands tall against the pressure and finds Austin Ekeler for the score. Ekeler showed off his ability as a receiver with a one handed catch on the screen pass.
Cleveland comes back with a strong drive of their own. Chubb scores his second TD of the day to put the Browns up 21-17
Chargers Second Half
Chargers got the first score of the second half. Ekeler gets his second TD of the day to bring the Chargers to a 24-21 lead. The defense stepped up on the next drive getting a stop on fourth and one. This led to Los Angeles kicking another field go to make it a six point lead. Kareem Hunt would score a touchdown to put the Browns up 28-27 on their next possession.
The Chargers would add another field goal early in the fourth to the to give them a 30-28 lead. Cleveland’s offense would get inside the 10 yard line with under three minutes left. However, Alohi Gilman came in clutch and intercepted a pass from Jacoby Brissett in the endzone. The Chargers tried to run the clock out. But couldn’t convert a fourth and two at their own 45. This gave the Browns one more chance. Luckily Cade York missed a 54yard FG and the Chargers escaped with a victory.

Chargers Outlook
It looked like all hope was lost after getting demolished by the Jacksonville Jaguars in week 3. But the Chargers have now won two straight after a bad 1-2 start. They are now above .500 for the first time since week 1. Los Angeles looks to follow that success in Week 6 when they play the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football
