Several players from the Dallas Cowboys are set for extensions this offseason, such as CeeDee Lamb. Lamb can play out the fifth-year option on his current rookie contract, which will earn him roughly $18 million in 2024.
However, the Dallas Cowboys would reportedly rather reach a new extension with Lamb, and the 24-year-old wide receiver made it known that he wants to get the bag on his new deal during his recent appearance in Micah Parsons’ podcast called “The Edge.”
“I can’t give you no numbers right now, but I’ll tell you this, one of the top-paid receivers for sure, if not the (highest-paid),” said Lamb. “That’s always the goal.”
And when asked about where he wants to play for the rest of his NFL career, CeeDee Lamb said that he wants to be a Cowboy for life.
“Absolutely. There’s no secret about that,” said Lamb.
Why CeeDee Lamb believes that he “earned his bag”
CeeDee Lamb is confident that he’ll get what he wants because he is coming off a career season. In 2023, the Oklahoma product recorded career bests in regular season receptions (135), receiving yards (1,749), touchdowns (12), and rushing yards (113).
As a result, Lamb was named first-team All-Pro for the first time in his NFL career. All in all, he’s now a three-time Pro Bowler.
With the help of his stellar individual campaign, the Dallas Cowboys finished at the top of the NFC East with a 12-5 record. However, they were eliminated in the wild-card round by the seventh-seeded Green Bay Packers via a blowout.
Where does CeeDee Lamb rank among the highest-paid WRs in the NFL?
When the Dallas Cowboys didn’t want to pay Amari Cooper his $20 million base salary for 2022–2024, they traded him to the Cleveland Browns and moved up CeeDee Lamb in the pecking order. According to Spotrac, Lamb earned an average annual salary of roughly $3.5 million in 2023.
Tyreek Hill is the highest-paid wide receiver (average annual salary) at $30 million. For sure, CeeDee Lamb is hoping to get something similar, and Micah Parsons has his back.
“I know they gotta get CeeDee Lamb done. I think that’s the priority right now,” said Parsons via the NFL Network last week.
