The Carolina Panthers are going to need to get Bryce Young some help quickly. One week after Young was knocked around against the Jets, the offensive line didn’t show much improvement. The first-team offense struggled yet again only being able to muster up three points on two drives. Despite the struggles, head coach Frank Reich praised the poise of Young.
Carolina Panthers Bryce Young Draws Praise Despite Struggles
Reich was impressed that Young never looked rattled despite running for his life.
“I thought Bryce looked sharp, Put together a nice drive. Would have liked to have finished if off [with a touchdown]. Obviously, unhappy with the number of penalties we had.
“But I thought Bryce looked sharp. I think he wanted to throw the ball more, but I thought he looked sharp.”
Young definitely wanted to throw the ball more but was not given an opportunity to. In many cases, he is immediately under duress and must scramble to evade pressure.
Long Season For The Panthers If They Can’t Solve Offensive Line
It is going to be a long season if the Panthers cannot figure out how to protect their top draft pick. There were many concerns about Young’s durability in the draft process so fans can’t be excited about him taking this many hits. Carolina has a decent team around Young. The defense especially has the potential to be a top-ten unit behind star edge rusher Brian Burns. However, none of that will matter if they cannot score any points.
The Carolina Panthers will continue to see if they can figure out a way to protect Bryce Young. If not, this will be a long season in Carolina.
