The New Orleans Saints are set to lose one of their longest-tenured players in free agency, and Cameron Jordan is not feeling it. Michael Thomas is unlikely to return to the Big Easy this summer, and Jordan recently talked about how it feels to see his teammates like Thomas leave.
“How do you deal with losing a great teammate like him (Michael Thomas), especially when he’s been there for so long? 😭” one New Orleans Saints fan tweeted to Jordan.
“Every year it sucks, but you sit there and wish all the best for them,” replied Jordan on his X (formerly known as Twitter) while using the famous Alfred Pennyworth to Bruce Wayne GIF last week.
Michael Thomas has been with the New Orleans Saints since 2016, which included four 1,000-yard seasons, three Pro Bowls, two All-Pro selections, and leading the NFL in receiving yards and receptions in different years.
While expressing his support, Cameron Jordan believes that the fans should celebrate what Thomas did for the franchise, despite the sour ending between him and the management.
Cameron Jordan is the longest-tenured player for the New Orleans Saints
Cameron Jordan has seen it all in New Orleans. In the last few years alone, Jordan has seen the likes of former quarterback Drew Brees and former head coach Sean Payton leave, among others, and now Michael Thomas.
The New Orleans Saints are in the midst of a rebuild after missing the playoffs yet again. Jordan has been one of the team’s most reliable players, as he has never missed a single regular-season game since arriving as a first-rounder in 2011.
Last season, Cameron Jordan played in all 17 regular-season games, recording 43 combined tackles (20 solo), two sacks, and one fumble return. His most productive year was in 2019, when he recorded a career-high 15.5 sacks, earning himself his second All-Pro selection.
Jordan has two seasons remaining on his current deal with the New Orleans Saints, and he will have to decide the future of his NFL career in 2026 since he will be 36 years old by then.
