BYU loses to Liberty to get their third straight loss and fourth this season. What was predicted that BYU could go to a New Year Six bowl game is far gone and many wonder what kind of team this is? Those four losses come against Oregon, Notre Dame, Arkansas, and Liberty. The defense is excruciating to watch and the offense is getting hard to watch each week.

Players Who Stood Out
Caden Haws
Haws came ready to play today. Too bad the defense can’t figure it out. Haws had a fumble recovery, six tackles, and one tackle for loss.
Keenan Pili
Welcome back Pili who has been a great player for the Cougars in past years but has yet to have a great game after tearing his ACL. Pili came out today and led the team in tackles with 13.
Micah Harper
Harper also had a good day with 12 tackles, and one tackle for loss. In BYU’s loss to Liberty, he played some good defense.
Players with a Great Game
Puka Nacua
Nacua is battling and he looks like he will continue to. After two injuries and I’m sure he added to it today with how many times he limped off the field Nacua shows no sign of being slowed down. Unless to refs forget what a pass interference call is. He finished the day with seven receptions for 114 yards and one touchdown.

Tyler Batty
Batty hasn’t been heard from much this season but when we have heard his name it’s been on some big stops. He had 11 tackles and one tackle for loss. Keep an eye out as I see he will be one way the Cougars could turn it around on the defense.
Isaac Rex
After coming back to play this season, Rex is showing the coaches why tight ends need to be used for just blocking. He had 38 yards on just two receptions and one touchdown.
Players who struggled
Jaren Hall
Still not looking great after the injury against Utah State. He has made some bad reads and he also showed no signs of trying to look in certain directions. You don’t float balls or overthrow receivers when completely untouched as a starting quarterback. It’s time to see what Jacob Conover can do and let Hall heal.
Miles Davis
He came back today and rushed from negative yardage.
Jakob Robinson
Robinson couldn’t stop anyone on defense, making me wonder if he knows how to even play the basic defense.

Liberty Athletics
Takeaways
Offense
BYU’s offense was looking good and they had overcome their slump in the first half. After half time the offense just couldn’t complete third downs and Hall was struggling. With the running game just not being it this year that means the passing game has to be. The passing game has struggled since Hall got hurt against Utah State. With Nacua, Epps, and Hill being the top receivers and them playing their game something should have worked but with a quarterback who needs to be benched to get healthy it’s not helping anybody.

BYU Football
Defense
Fire someone this talented player side of the defense isn’t being helped. Yes, there are some missed tackles but many aren’t in the right spots, to begin with, to make those tackles. Today we saw another defensive struggle from the coaching not from the players because players were flying to the football. I don’t understand the switching out of the entire defense on third down if they are making stops don’t change it. BYU loses to Liberty because of the defense not getting stops and only forcing them to punt once.

Special Teams
At least they can play ball the Cougars have looked good all year long here. The sad part is that it can win us games when the offense can’t get into field goal position. BYU loses to Liberty but not because of the special teams who put Liberty in a sucky field position time and time again.
