BYU Fall Camp started on August 3rd and on the 13th they did their first scrimmage. I am going to give my insights from highlights and interviews with the players and coaches I will post all those links at the bottom. Many questions for many positions need answering on who will be clear starters. The offensive line still has no idea who the starting five will be and there are some questions on defense for clear-cut backups. Earlier this week Sitake also mentioned that no major injuries have occurred so far in fall camp.
Notes
Sitake is “really happy with the talent we have on the team right now”. Experience is really good and the knowledge of the team is showing on the field all time. Few penalties on both sides of the ball. The veterans played about 40 plays.
Offensive notes
The wide receivers are making nice catches with the defense in their faces. Line opening up holes for the running backs and giving them plenty of time. Brooks is showing speed and strength and also had a nice run for some big yardage. The touchdown caught by Tanner Wall covered well. Jacob Conover has the backup quarterback position locked in. No turnovers played clean football from Coach Roderick’s view.
Defensive notes
Defense pass blocking is getting better and they are tighter in on the receivers. The defense is blowing up some potential big plays. The defense is being disruptive and more pressure on the quarterback. Young backers stepped up and made some tackles. Batty was disruptive and hard to block. The young guys were flying around on defense and looking good.
