This season, the Cleveland Browns defense has been an imposing force in the National Football League. They have established an elite pass rush with Defensive Player of the Year Candidate Myles Garrett but also sport a tremendous secondary on the back end. While the personnel is clearly excellent, Cleveland has statistically been the best defensive in the league this season by only giving up 260.5 yards per game this season, better than any team in the league by 13 yards per game.
Browns Safety Locked into Contract Extension
While Garrett has become an unstoppable force off the edge for Cleveland this season, they also owe a lot to their secondary and on Sunday morning, Cleveland delivered what they owed. Starting safety Grant Delpit was awarded a contract extension that will keep him in Northern Ohio for at least another season. Details of the contract have not been published yet but any extra time will provide Cleveland one of their safety valves over the top for at least another season.

Delpit didn’t have the smoothest start to his NFL Career after he was drafted by Cleveland in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He failed to make an impact during his rookie season but in the past two years has established himself as a force. This season, he has performed excellent in run support as he has managed to tally 58 tackles during this season. He also has an interception on the season.
More details will be included as the contract terms become available.
