Other Lions Schedule Details
The Lions will have their bye week scheduled for Week 5. This is pretty early for a bye week and they would have a very packed schedule after this. They will also have a total of six primetime games this season.
There are five international games in the upcoming season and those are featured in three different countries (Brazil, U.K., and Germany). The Lions will not have any international games scheduled this season.
In their regular season matchups, you can look forward to watching the head-to-head battles between NFC North division rivals: Chicago Bears (Weeks 13 & 16), Green Bay Packers (Weeks 9 & 14), and Minnesota Vikings (Weeks 7 & 18).
Within the NFC North, there are a few significant additions who will definitely be tested by the Lions. For example, the No. 1 overall pick of the Chicago Bears, quarterback Caleb Williams, will see this team twice in what will be at least one highly anticipated matchup on Thanksgiving Day. The Minnesota Vikings also have a new quarterback who will be battle-tested and he has significant ties to the state of Michigan as well. Vikings rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy (former University of Michigan quarterback) will return to the state of Michigan in the last week of the season, Week 18.
One matchup in particular that the Lions— and Lions fans— will most likely look to would be their matchup against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1. The last matchup between the two teams was in the postseason, on January 14, 2024, when the Lions went on to defeat the Rams by a score of 23-24. It was the return to Ford Field by their former quarterback Matthew Stafford and the Lions made sure to spoil the homecoming by eliminating them from playoff contention.
Starting the season off this way, especially in a primetime slot, is sure to ignite fans and the team very early on. We will have to wait and see which of their new jerseys that they decide to wear for this very significant matchup.
Make sure to catch the Detroit Lions in action this season. They have turned into quite a hot topic around the NFL before the season even has begun and it will be interesting to see how they come to handle the hype and conversations around them this season!
