Specific Rules from NFL and NFLPA
There has always been a lot of controversy about NFL players being allowed to bet on games. Some say that it should not be allowed since they can control the outcome of bets, while others think that it should be allowed as long as there are modifications as to what players can bet on. There are now new disciplinary actions being taken for violations.
First Violation: Two-game suspension without pay
Second Violation: Six-game suspension without pay
Third Violation: Suspension without pay for at least one year
Fans React
Fans around the NFL world are reacting to this breaking news, and most of them are pretty happy with the results. However, some say the players should have their own portal for betting on games.
NFL needs to just operate its own portal for all players to make bets through the betting partners. Only showing the events they are allowed to bet on and NFL has access to each one to ensure nothing illegal is happening.
Any bet outside that portal is suspendible

Roger Goodell
The NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell sent out a memo to all NFL teams to lay out all the specific actions being taken if these new policies are violated. He also stated that he is working with the NFLPA to develop a program to educate players regarding the changes to the policy and that the program will roll out shortly.

How Will This Affect Player Violations in the Past

Now that there are new rules in order, both p[layers will be reinstated effective this coming Monday. They have both served four-game suspensions for their violations.
