The Los Angeles Rams made headlines earlier this week by signing a notable veteran to their practice squad. At the time, there was speculation he would be elevated to the active roster. Now, we have a report confirming this before tomorrow’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Mason Crosby Activated
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Los Angeles Rams have activated kicker Mason Crosby from their practice squad. Crosby was recently signed after being a free agent for the majority of the 2023 NFL season. He spent his first 16 seasons with the Green Bay Packers.
Los Angeles Rams Changing Kickers
As a result of this move, it likely means that Crosby will get the nod as the kicker. In my earlier report this week, I speculated that the Crosby signing was due to the struggles of their current kicker. That current kicker is Lucas Havrisik.
This is his first year on an active roster. Throughout his short NFL career, he has bounced around several practice squads. Havrisik recently took the job from veteran kicker Brett Maher.
However, Havrisik’s performance has left something to be desired. Why is this? Havrisik is just 3/6 with field goals that are 40+ yards this season. With this latest report, that performance is likely going to cost Havrisik his job.
