Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields is officially ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Fields suffered a gruesome thumb injury in last week’s matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. This means that rookie free-agent quarterback Tyson Bagent will make his first NFL start. This report comes in from NFL analyst and insider Adam Schefter via Twitter.

Justin Fields Injury
The only good news for Bears fans is that the Raiders will also be without their starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo after he suffered a back injury in last week’s win over the New England Patriots. In the case of Justin Fields, he was injured on a play where he was tackled down by a Vikings defender, causing him to land on his hand with the weight from himself and the defender. He was taken out of the game and officially ruled out for the rest of the matchup.
Career Year
Despite the Bears starting the 2023 season 1-5, Fields has been having his best statistical year individually. So far, he has amounted to 1,201 passing yards and 11 touchdowns. He has been in a lot of trade rumors recently due to the struggles the team is having. However, he has been the best player in Chicago so far, and the team would be heavily criticized if they released him.
Over his three-year career, Fields has gone for 5,313 passing yards and 35 touchdowns with an overall quarterback rating of 82.3. His absence this week will certainly be felt, and the rookie will have to step up big-time of Chicago wants to have a chance to win this game. Fields’ injury is an ongoing issue and will be updated as the week goes on.
