The Baltimore Ravens may have secured a big win in Week 1 with a 25-9 victory over the Houston Texans, but it appears that they will need to pay a heavy price for the same. Baltimore has already confirmed after the game that running back J.K. Dobbins tore his Achilles against the Texans, and it is believed to be a season-ending injury for the 24-year-old.
Unfortunately for Baltimore, that wasn’t all the bad news they got on Sunday evening.
Baltimore Ravens S Marcus Williams Suffers Pec Injury
The Ravens lost starting safety Marcus Williams just before halftime due to what was initially reported as some sort of shoulder injury. Baltimore ruled him out shortly after and Williams was unable to return to the game.
League insider Ian Rapoport provided an update on Williams’ injury after the game, and at this point, there is fear that the former Utah standout could have also suffered a significant injury:
“#Ravens standout DB Marcus Williams is feared to have torn his pec in today’s game, source said. He’ll have an MRI to confirm. Another major injury for Baltimore,” Rapoport wrote in his tweet,
As Rapoport noted, Williams will get tests done to evaluate the extent of the injury. However, based on these initial reports, it’s possible that Baltimore will need to replace Williams from their starting lineup for the foreseeable future.
Baltimore Ravens Fear the Worst for J.K. Dobbins
While there is still some optimism on the Marcus Williams front, the same cannot be said about J.K. Dobbins. The running back was helped off the field against the Texans, and he was unable to return to the game. Head coach John Harbaugh himself confirmed after the win that Dobbins had suffered a torn Achilles and that he is now set to miss the rest of the season.
This is an undeniably tough break for Dobbins, who has had to battle multiple major injuries in his first three seasons in the NFL. It’s an equally brutal blow for the Ravens, who will be left without their starting RB for the rest of the way. Yet again.
