The Eagles won in ugly fashion against the Jacksonville Jaguars, much in part because of their ground game. Perhaps most impressive of them all was fourth year running back Miles Sanders, who had a career day on the ground. Because of his impressive performance, he is the Eagles’ offensive player of the week. Highlights of the Game Sanders rushed for career high 134 yards against Jacksonville, putting the offense on his back on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Although Jalen Hurts, Kenneth Gainwell, and Trey Sermon all got involved in the rushing game, Sanders carried the load with 27 carries. He…

After trailing early, the Eagles battled back to defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars on the back of their running game, 29-21. Eagles Standard First Half It was a rainy, windy day at Lincoln Financial Field, conditions which would make ball control the key to the game. In the first quarter, Jacksonville clearly won the battle of possession, scoring the first points of the game on a pick six. After a second stalled drive by the Eagles, the Jaguars would drive down the field again, this time ending with a Jamal Agnew score to take a 14-0 lead. However, the tides would…

The Eagles host the 2-1 Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, who are following up a massive win against the Los Angeles Chargers. In that game, Jacksonville’s offense was firing on all cylinders, dropping 38 on the Chargers’ star-studded defense. Defensively, the Jaguars were able to hold Justin Herbert to just ten points. Questions can be asked about the health of Herbert in that game, but one thing is still certain: the Jaguars look like a very good football team. Coached by Eagles’ Super Bowl-winning head coach Doug Pederson, the Jaguars are no pushovers. Trevor Lawrence looks much improved under the new…

For the fourth time this season, an Eagle has been rewarded for stellar play. According to NFL.com, Jalen Hurts has been named NFC Offensive Player of the Month. Hurts Early MVP Push Through three games, Hurts has looked better than anyone could have expected. He has a completion percentage of 67.3%, an improvement from his 61.3% in 2021, and a 106.5 passer rating. Hurts has been the catalyst for an offense which has yearned for consistent quarterback play since 2017. What is…

For the third time in 2022, an Eagle has taken home Player of the Week honors. This time, it is veteran defensive end Brandon Graham. BG’s Resurgence After a Shortened 2021 Graham finished his day with a team high 2.5 sacks, two TFLs, and a forced fumble. The Eagles defensive line had a field day against Washington, finishing with nine sacks, eight TFLs, and two forced fumbles as a team. Other productive Eagles defensive linemen were Fletcher Cox, Josh Sweat, and Haason Reddick. This was a much-needed performance for Graham, who suffered a season-ending torn Achilles in 2021. The thirteen-year…

Haason Reddick signed a three-year deal with Philadelphia back in March, a move expected to bolster the Eagles pass rush. The Camden, New Jersey-native was drafted to the Arizona Cardinals in 2017 before signing with the Carolina Panthers in 2021. During that time, he became one of the leagues most underrated pass rushers, totaling 31 sacks, 11 in 2021. This production prompted Philadelphia to give him $45 million, $30 million of it fully guaranteed. Reddick’s Early Struggles Coming into Philadelphia, however, Reddick’s role has changed. As a true EDGE rusher, Reddick has been used as a 3-4 outside linebacker his…

The Eagles investments in the trenches looked to have paid off in their 24-8 victory over the Washington Commanders. Ever since 2017, Howie Roseman has lived and died on the lines. Offensively, the Eagles have always been strong on the line. Injuries have had their way with the unit in past years, but through three weeks in 2022, the group is healthy and playing as well as ever. On the defensive side, not much needs to be said. The Eagles d-line made Carson Wentz’s life difficult and were the reason for today’s win. Offense The Eagles offense started the game…

It was the end of the 2021 season, and Notre Dame was preparing to take on Oklahoma State in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl. It was a pretty up-and-down season–Notre Dame started the year with multiple less than stellar games, including a loss to eventual playoff team Cincinnati–but eventually put it all together on the road to a New Year’s Six bowl game. The season went as usual, highlighted by tight contests against group of five schools and blowout wins over power five schools. However, right before the biggest game of the season, Notre Dame was faced with a massive storyline.…

Shane Steichen is a name unfamiliar to almost everyone outside of the Eagles fanbase. The former Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator came to Philadelphia in 2021 with Nick Sirianni, making the lateral move from Chargers OC to Philly’s. He started out without much of a role, working with Sirianni in game planning but not calling the plays. However, around the midway point of the 2021 season, Steichen was given the opportunity to call plays for the Eagles offense, an opportunity which he has clearly made the most of. Eagles Offensive Uptick It’s unconfirmed (as far as my research goes, anyways)…

On August 30th, the Philadelphia Eagles completed a blockbuster trade with the New Orleans Saints for fourth-year safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson. Gardner-Johnson had been a productive player for New Orleans and was one of the NFL’s best up-and-coming safeties, but the Saints couldn’t afford to keep him around. With that, Eagles’ GM Howie Roseman swooped in just two weeks from the start of the season to fill one of the team’s biggest needs in a massive way. In New Orleans, Gardner-Johnson was a bit of a Swiss-army knife. Although his primary position is safety, the Saints played him all over the…
