Rico Flores will join the nation’s No. 1 ranked recruiting class after announcing his commitment to Notre Dame. He chose the Fighting Irish over Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, and Texas. The four-star wide receiver visited the Notre Dame campus in early June, where the coaching staff went all in to gain Flores’ attention. Kicker Lirim Hajrullahu has agreed to sign with the Dallas Cowboys and will compete with undrafted rookie Jonathan Gariby for the starting job. Hajrullahu played with Dallas for one game in the 2021-22 season after starting kicker Greg Zuerlein tested positive for COVID-19. In his only appearance, he made all five extra-point attempts in a 43-3 rout against the Atlanta Falcons. Dallas did not kick one field goal that game. The Cowboys released him on November 23. Head coach Mike Leach and Mississippi State agreed on a two-year extension that raises his annual salary to $5.5 million. His contract runs through the 2025 season. Mississippi state law only allows contracts to be up to four years in length. Leach’s original contract paid him $5 million a year. Leach is entering his third season as head coach of the Bulldogs.
