Gabriel Davis
Everyone wants a piece of the Buffalo Bills offense on their fantasy team. The obvious candidates are superstar quarterback Josh Allen and all-pro wideout Stefon Diggs. But you know who no one is talking about until recently? Yes, you guessed it Gabriel Davis.
Davis coming off a career game in the Bills final playoff game in 2021. Not only did he break the 200 yard mark for the game, but he also put up ten catches with four touchdowns!
Target Share Increase
Although, Gabriel Davis is coming off a season where he saw just 63 targets. Fear not! There is absolutely room for growth here. The Bills vacated nearly 200 targets from their roster this offseason.
This stems from the offseason departures of Emmanuel Sanders and Cole Beasley. The only obvious replacement added to the team is veteran wideout Jamison Crowder and rookie RB James Cook. Both of which, not considered serious threats to Davis on the depth chart. This promotes Davis to the Bills number two wideout. He will absolutely see a large chunk of the 200 available targets and in one of the best passing offenses in football.
Yards, Yards, Yards
Davis will be a dominant option in non-ppr leagues this year. Aaron Larson, of the FF Ballers, points out in an article that Davis is efficient in Yards/reception. With a career average of 16.4 yards per reception, this is puts him at 4th in the league since his rookie season. However, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t draft him in PPR leagues. The volume is going to be there all year in an offense that loves to air it out.
TD Efficiency
Gabriel Davis is a prime example of a guy who has made the most of his touches. Touchdowns are the most efficient way a player can get you the most fantasy points. This is precisely what Davis does when the ball is in his hands. He has been able to score 13 touchdowns over his first two NFL seasons with minimal work. Davis has a contested catch rate of 76.9% between regular season and playoffs, according to PFF.
Clearly, Josh Allen is going to have to find another guy he trusts in the red-zone this season. Did I mention too that the Vegas over/under for Davis’ TDs is 7.5? With that in mind, it is very likely we see Davis catching passes in the end zone left and right this year.
Conclusion
In conclusion, not only does Davis have top 15 WR potential in 2022, but he’s also a bargain. Currently his ADP sits at WR33 on Sleeper. The only thing Gabriel Davis hasn’t had going for him up to this point is volume. Which WILL be there in 2022! Davis will see significantly more snaps, targets, and volume in this prolific Buffalo offense. His efficiency per target could very well get him multiple 100 yard and multi-td games.
Also, WRs also typically see there greatest breakout entering their third year. Too often, we see guys about to hit a breakout year be drafted as a WR30. With Gabriel Davis, you have the opportunity to get a guy about to hit his ceiling and your opponents don’t even know it yet. This all could very well lead to you stealing Davis late in the eighth round bolstering your fantasy team to a championship!
