Through the big news regarding the San Francisco 49ers and free agency, one name may have gotten lost in the other news. The 49ers have agreed to a deal to re-sign Kevin Givens, a defensive lineman who has been with them for a while. Givens is one of the more under the radar defensive lineman on the team but was a key player to keep in San Francisco.

49ers Kevin Givens
Givens has been a solid depth piece for San Francisco. With a strong defensive line, the team needs to be sure that when rotating players, they do not slow down. Givens spent four years with the 49ers as a defensive tackle and has agreed to a deal for one more year, according to Matt Barrows on Twitter.
It is a $2.1 million deal with $2 million guaranteed. This is a cheap one-year deal for an important player. The team has put an emphasis on the defensive tackle position, agreeing to a deal with the former Philadelphia Eagles’ Javon Hargrave. This is a solid pickup to put into the rotation on the defensive line.

During the 2022 season, Kevin Givens had two sacks, 20 combined tackles, 11 solo, and seven tackles for loss, according to Pro Football Reference. Givens is not one of the team’s starting defensive linemen but has been a solid piece in the rotation. This may just be a one year deal, but an important one for Givens and the 49ers.
The 49ers are far from over in this free agency. The deals will not be official until Wednesday, but they are working on filling their much needed positions.
