The Michigan Wolverines beat Hawaii 56-10 on Saturday. This was not surprising to anyone as the Wolverines entered as historic favorites. Here are 3 takeaways from Michigan vs. Hawaii.
Michigan Took Care Of Business
While the score of this game was not a surprise, many other games around college football had surprising results today. Alabama struggled against Texas. Texas A&M, and Notre Dame, Wisconsin were all upset by unranked opponents. These were all games that the team should have won easily but they did not. Michigan came out and asserted their dominance from the opening snap. The Wolverines did not overlook their opponent. This is a huge takeaway from Michigan’s victory over Hawaii. Jim Harbaugh gets his team ready for the game.
JJ McCarthy Looks Like The Starter
McCarthy’s stat line was almost flawless. 11/12 for 229 yards and 3 TDs is exactly what you want to see as a Michigan fan. His only incompletion was a drop by Ronnie Bell. I get it is only against Hawaii but McCarthy just makes the offense look more dangerous. His deep passes were a thing of beauty and gives the Wolverines big play potential. His running makes the defense have to consider another variable during the play. I would be very surprised if McCarthy was not the starter come next week.
The Michigan Receivers Look Electric
One of the takeaways from Michigan vs. Hawaii was how electric the Michigan receivers looked. Roman Wilson had another big play touchdown. Ronnie Bell looks great after coming back from his knee injury. Cornelius Johnson had an excellent toe tapping touchdown catch. McCarthy spread the ball around the the receivers showed off their skills. This is starting to look like the Michigan’s offenses of old where a powerful running game sets up huge pass plays. It is great to see if you are a Michigan fans.
Through two weeks, the Michigan Wolverines have taken care of business. This is hopefully building the foundation for success throughout the year.
