Ohio State has received a commitment from the number two ranked safety in the 2025 class, Faheem Delane out of Olney, Maryland. Tim Walton, Ohio State’s secondary coach, has been recruiting well this summer for the 2025 class. The Buckeyes now have the top two ranked cornerbacks and second-ranked safety in the class. The Buckeyes offered Delane a scholarship on May 16, 2022, and after much time and consideration, he is committed to wearing the scarlet and gray.

Faheem Delane Brings Size and Physicality to Ohio State
![BREAKING: Ohio State Lands Big Time Safety Commitment From the 2025 Class 1 Ohio State defensive backs coach Tim Walton](https://gridironheroics.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/USATSI_22713243_168400545_lowres-1024x683.jpg)
Measuring in at 6’2 200 pounds, Delane is a big, physical athlete who will provide elite aggression on the back end. Delane has shown great versatility at that size moving around from an off-ball safety, to playing in the box, and also lining up as a slot corner. Delane is constantly attacking the line of scrimmage and delivering blows to ballcarriers.
While Faheem Delane brings great size and physicality, one area he will need to improve is his coverage skills. Compared to the speed at the power conference level, Delane isn’t the fastest safety in the world. At times when getting beat Delane can lack the speed to recover, although, to this point, he hasn’t found himself in that situation that often.
The Future of Ohio State Safeties is Bright

With the addition of Faheem Delane, the Ohio State safety room has one of the brightest futures in the nation. The Buckeyes brought in former Alabama safety Caleb Downs via the transfer portal, and he has at minimum two more years left before he could enter the NFL Draft.
The Buckeyes have the fifth-ranked safety out of the 2023 class on the roster in Malik Hartford who looks to find his way onto the field for the Buckeyes in his sophomore season. Having to play behind Lathan Ransom and Caleb Downs, it will be more of a challenge for Hartford to see the field on defense, but he will see time on special teams.
In the 2024 class, Ohio State brought in Garrett Stover, a four-star safety from Big Walnut, Ohio. Garrett Stover is the cousin of former Buckeye tight end Cade Stover and looks to follow in his footsteps in becoming a Buckeye great. Stover is listed as both a linebacker and safety, but the speculation is that he will play safety for the Buckeyes.
