The 2024 spring transfer portal just closed and Ohio State fans should still be a little less worried because no more players can enter. Right before it closed, one of their highest-ranked linebackers said goodbye to the Buckeyes on Tuesday.
Ohio State Has A Loaded Linebacker Room For 2024
Ohio State is going into the 2024 season with a stacked linebacker room. The team saw starters Tommy Eichenberg and Steele Chambers enter the NFL. Still, Cody Simon, who had 57 total tackles and three tackles for loss last season in 13 games, will be back this upcoming season along with junior C.J. Hicks. Sonny Styles, who played defensive back the previous two seasons, may be moved to linebacker.
Caleb Downs Comes To The Buckeyes
The Buckeyes went into the transfer portal this offseason and took the top safety in Alabama’s Caleb Downs. Safety Lathan Ransom will return for his fifth season, so there is a log jam at the position. That could be a reason to move Styles down to linebacker, which only means the linebacker gets deeper. The Buckeyes saw a 2023 four-star recruit enter the portal on Tuesday, shocking many people.
Nigel Glover Enters The Portal
Linebacker Nigel Glover is leaving the program and was a part of the 2023 recruiting class. The Clayton, Ohio native was once enrolled at Northwestern, but after the Pat Fitzgerald scandal last summer, he left the program and returned to his home state to play his college football.

Glover was Northwestern’s top recruit last season and was ranked as the 25th-best linebacker in the class.
Nigel didn’t record a single snap last season and will have a fair share of schools to choose from in this year’s portal.
