The Pittsburgh Steelers had quite a busy offseason after saying goodbye to their long time veteran QB Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers drafted 7 players in the 2022 NFL Draft featuring QB Kenny Pickett from the University of Pittsburgh. Pro Football Focus listed each NFL team’s best offseason acquisition. According to PFF, the Steelers best move was drafting WR George Pickens. Brad Spielberger wrote that drafting Pickens was the single best move Pittsburgh made this offseason, saying:
“No team has done a better job over the last two decades of finding wide receiver talent outside of the first round. It’s possible the Steelers and WR Diontae Johnson find common ground on a multi-year extension either before the 2022 campaign or after the season, but Pittsburgh has no reason to pay an amount they’re not comfortable with.”
Pittsburgh Steelers WR George Pickens
Pickens has good size at 6′ 3″, 195 lbs. He also has solid speed, as he ran the 40 yard dash in 4.47 seconds. In 3 years at Georgia, Pickens played in 24 games for the Bulldogs. He had 90 receptions, 1347 receiving yards, and 14 touchdowns. As a result, will be interesting to see how Pickens fits in with the Steelers new-look offense. The Steelers could have one of the youngest offenses in the NFL. Especially if QB Kenny Pickett can make a jump into the starting role.
