Sixth-year running back, Aaron Jones, will enter his second game of the 2022 NFL season alongside a very questionable Packers offense. Here’s why Green Bay’s week one failure actually makes Jones a great RB1 option for your fantasy football lineup.
Aaron Jones Week Two Expectations
In the offseason, the Packer’s traded away their long-time WR1, Devante Adams. They were also unable to retain their fourth-year wideout, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, as his price moved outside of the team’s budget. These two developments in particular proved detrimental in their week one matchup against the Vikings. Last Sunday, Green Bay’s receiving corps combined for only 95 yards through the air. The return of their WR1, Allan Lazard, should help to improve this number. However, we can still expect to see much of the Packer’s offense dependent on the team’s running backs, A.J. Dillon, and of course, Aaron Jones. Last week, the pair combined for a solid 187 scrimmage yards. By scoring the team’s only touchdown, Dillon faired better in terms of fantasy points, however, Jones was busier in the Packer’s passing game. Jones ran 13 more routes than Dillon against Minnesota, which very well may happen again during the Packers matchup against the Bears this Sunday.
Green Bay’s head coach, Matt LaFleur, recognized Jones’s lack of touches last Sunday, perhaps foreshadowing a significant increase in looks for the versatile RB. Jones certainly has the capability to double his week one numbers against an untested Chicago defense.
