The Washington Huskies have been going through a transition period after head coach Kalen DeBoer left for Alabama. They have seen many players leave because of the coaching change. However, the hiring of Jedd Fisch brings the quarterback some stability and the potential of players following their coach. Former Arizona quarterback commit Demond Williams Jr. announced he is committing to Washington.

Williams Jr. is going to be a freshman this year but put up big stats in his senior year of high school. He completed 77% of his passes for 3,250 yards and 34 touchdowns with just three interceptions at Basha High School (Arizona). It gives Fisch an option at quarterback after many of the players have left. It is a massive get for the program, which is looking to make the success of the 2023 season the norm for the program.
2024 Outlook
We have to see how the rest of the offseason plays out. Other players may decide to follow Fisch, and players may still continue to leave. Players have 30 days to enter the transfer portal. 2024 is an interesting season because the program is moving to the Big Ten. This is one of the elite conferences in college football and adds more elite teams. Oregon, Washington, USC, and UCLA are all joining the Big Ten. Add in Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State, and this conference is going to be a gauntlet to get through.
The Washington Huskies are hoping 2023 wasn’t a one-hit-wonder season. Hopefully, the program can keep landing top-tier talent and compete in 2024 and beyond.
