The Washington Commanders fanbase hopes head coach Ron Rivera gets canned before Thanksgiving on Thursday after being swept by a 3-8 New York Giants team on Sunday.
The lowly Commanders are 4-7 in a season Rivera was thought to be on the hot seat since the preseason. The Commanders have now lost two games to the Giants and the Chicago Bears, two teams that were in on the sweepstakes for Caleb Williams or Drake Maye.
The new Commanders’ owner, Josh Harris, will likely fire Rivera sometime in the next two months. Many fans speculated the firing could come after Sunday’s loss to the Giants.
It would be a sort of karma for the Commanders. The Commanders’ previous owner, Dan Snyder, introduced Rivera as the head coach by saying “Happy Thanksgiving” to the crowd at the introductory press conference. Harris could give the Commanders’ fanbase a special holiday treat this week by announcing Rivera’s firing.
Washington Commanders fans think Rivera is out
Fans took to social media to speculate on Rivera’s job. Here are the best takes of Commanders fans thinking they’ll have a vacancy to be thankful for on Thursday.
Ron Rivera's tenure as Washington head coach began with someone saying, "Happy Thanksgiving." And so it is fitting that Ron's tenure as Washington head coach may well end on Thanksgiving. #Commanders pic.twitter.com/ytwNlmw3Hr

It should end today! No short week excuse! A statement needs to be made after this loss!

I don't think he's gonna make the Thanksgiving game

How can they keep him after this game? I can't imagine he is still around at Thanksgiving. It is malpractice by ownership to allow this clown show to continue.
