The Washington Commanders are bringing in a lot of new personnel this offseason. This included replacing offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy with Kliff Kingsbury. When this happened, many people were curious as to where Bieniemy would end up. Now, it appears he is returning to a familiar place.
Eric Bieniemy Returning to UCLA Bruins
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Eric Bieniemy is heading to the UCLA Bruins. He will join that staff as an associate head coach as well as the offensive coordinator. Bieniemy goes from the NFL to the college football world. This is good timing to join the UCLA staff too considering the Bruins are heading to the Big Ten conference next season.
Past UCLA Tenure
This is not Bieniemy’s first stint on the UCLA coaching staff. He was the running backs coach from 2003-05 with the Bruins. After that, he moved up to the NFL, taking the running backs coach job on the Minnesota Vikings’ coaching staff in 2006. In an email, Bieniemy revealed how pleased he is to be back with his old team near where he grew up.
“It’s obviously great to be back with the Bruins, where I was previously employed.”
