As noted before, leagues are won with post-draft acquisitions. While, you can win on drafting talent alone, the waiver wire is primarily where losses can become wins. We look ahead to our next matchup with the our weekly Waiver Wire Week 3 Edition.
Both Monday Night Football games are concluding at the time of this article. Let’s crack open Waiver Wire Week 3 Edition folks!
Key Injuries to consider:
- Dak & Eli Mitchell both still out
- Chris Godwin (Hamstring) 2-3 weeks
- James Conner (Ankle) Week 3 in question
- Jerry Jeudy (shoulder) day-to-day; left game early
- Dalton Schultz (knee) week 3; doubtful – short term injury
- Trey Lance (ankle) out for the season
Waiver Wire targets by positions
Quarterbacks
- Jared Goff @ MIN – rostered: 23% Yahoo / 6.8% ESPN
- Marcus Mariota @SEA – rostered: 11% Yahoo / 9.3% ESPN
- Jimmy Garoppolo @DEN – rostered: 5% Yahoo / 1% ESPN
Goff has begun to show the Goff that led the Rams to the Super Bowl. Of course, this can be largely accredited to his star WR1 in Amon-Ra St. Brown. Goff threw four touchdown passes in a win against the Commanders. After Minnesota’s dreadful performance on Monday Night, I’m expecting Goff to have a similar output in this game. He’s a must grab moving forward.
Running backs
- Darrell Williams vs LAR – rostered: 4% Yahoo / 3.6% ESPN
- J.D. McKissic vs PHI – rostered: 24% Yahoo / 42% ESPN
I’ll note, I don’t love the upcoming matchup with the Rams for Darrell Williams, but he was the favorite back when current RB1 Conner went down with an ankle injury. I expect to see Darrell Williams to get a bulk of the carries and goal-line work. You should make arrangements to pick him up (and Eno; if able) to supplant Conner in the event he misses extended time.
Wide Receivers
- Garret Wilson vs CIN – rostered: 23% Yahoo / 69.8% ESPN
- Noah Brown @NYG – rostered: 2% Yahoo / .8% ESPN
- Josh Palmer vs JAX – rostered: 27% Yahoo / 41% ESPN
- Ashton Dulin vs KC – rostered: 1% Yahoo / 2.4% ESPN
- Corey Davis vs CIN – rostered: 14% Yahoo / 4.2% ESPN
Noah Brown has steadily built himself a role in this offense. With injuries to Gallup, Washington and Tolbert continuing to be a healthy scratch; the opportunities are there for Brown. He, also, registered his first career touchdown against the Bengals. Here are his stats over the last two weeks:
- Week 1: 9 targets, 5 receptions and 68 yards
- Week 2: 5 targets, 5 receptions, 91 yards and a touchdown
Even with Gallup getting inching closer to being available to play, Brown’s rapport with Rush will see him continue to produce.
Tight Ends
- Logan Thomas vs PHI – rostered: 14% Yahoo / 19.5% ESPN
- Hayden Hurst @ NYJ –rostered: 16% Yahoo / 23% ESPN
I’ll be the first to admit, I’m still skeptical if Thomas can remain healthy. At the moment, he’s benefiting from a pass-happy QB in Carson Wentz, who is feeding Thomas just enough keeping him relevant for fantasy purposes. Philly is up next, which will make Thomas a great streaming TE as McLaurin and Samuel will likely be terrorized by Darius Slay.
