A victim of a crime O.J. Simpson committed in 2007 spoke out on the death of the former NFL running back Thursday.
Bruce Fromong, along with Alfred Beardsley, was robbed by Simpson in a Las Vegas hotel in 2007. Simpson was found guilty of the crime on Oct. 3, 2008.
Bruce Fromong spoke out on O.J. Simpson’s death
Fromong, who ended up forgiving Simpson and speaking on his behalf at a parole hearing, spoke out on the death of Simpson in an article from TMZ Sports.
Fromong told TMZ Sports that it is a “sad time right now for family and friends of O.J.’s, and for those who really knew him.”
“He tells us O.J. was a good father and a good man, and that he ‘will be sorely missed by many,'” TMZ wrote. “Fromong not only forgave O.J. — he befriended him too.”
When Fromong spoke on his behalf at a parole hearing he had many good things to say about Simpson, despite being the victim of a crime he committed.
“I don’t feel that he’s a threat to anyone out there,” Fromong said. “He’s a good man. I know that he does a lot for other people, and I feel that nine and a half to 33 years was way too long, and I feel that it’s time to give him a second chance.”
Bruce Fromong was the victim of an armed robbery committed by O.J. Simpson
The crime Simpson committed that sent him to prison in the first place was an armed robbery. Simpson and a collection of armed men forced their way into Fromong’s hotel room in September of 2007.
Simpson and the armed men stole various sports memorabilia from Fromong. Simpson later claimed that the memorabilia he stole was previously stolen from him.
Simpson was officially convicted of 12 counts of armed robbery and kidnapping, which is what caused him to serve nine years in a Nevada prison.
Fromong coming to Simpson’s defense in the parole hearing went a long way for Simpson. Simpson was originally sentenced to 33 years in prison. He got parole after nine years, largely due to what Fromong said about him in the hearing.
Bruce Fromong shared condolences for O.J. Simpson and his family despite being the victim of a crime committed by him while many took to social media to do the exact opposite
Despite being the victim of a crime committed by Simpson, Fromong still shared condolences to Simpson’s family. Many people took to social media to do the exact opposite of what Fromong did.
Simpson was one of the most controversial figures of a generation. Even though his acquittal from the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman was 20 years ago, many still had a lot to say about Simpson following his death.
His trial, which was dubbed the “trial of the century” by U.S. media, had a massive impact on race relations in the United States. His impact was not lost on the many people who spoke out on social media following the announcement of his death.
