The Utah Utes are coming off of a solid season in the final year of the Pac-12. While they weren’t able to take down the conference’s best, they had some big wins and high-level play on the field. Unfortunately, they will have to make their move to the Big 12 without one of their offensive weapons. Running back Ja’Quinden Jackson announced he is entering the transfer portal.

Utah Utes RB Ja’Quinden Jackson Enters Transfer Portal
Of all the players that have entered the portal this offseason, Jackson is the biggest blow. The quarterback-turned running back had a solid season for the Utes. He had 797 rushing yards and four touchdowns with an impressive 5.0 yards per carry. Jackson was a transfer from Texas as a quarterback but found a home in the running back position. He was a fan favorite who will be missed by the Utah fan base.
2024 Outlook
A move to the Big 12 means a whole new round of opponents though the Utes will see a lot of familiar faces in 2024. Colorado, Arizona, and Arizona State all come over to the new conference as well and are on the schedule. A trip to Oklahoma State is likely the toughest game on the schedule as we look at it now. Obviously, teams are changing by the week whether it is via the transfer portal or new recruits signing. At first look, however, it looks like Utah will be in the mix for the conference next season.
The Utah Utes will need to replace the production from Jackson on the field. Hopefully, they can find some players in the transfer portal that can help replenish some talent that was lost.
