The reigning national champions add another elite defender to their 2023 recruiting round. Troy Bowles announced his commitment to the University of Georgia. He chose the Bulldogs over Ohio State, Alabama, and Oklahoma.
Bowles is the sixth-best prospect in the state of Florida. He becomes the third linebacker to commit to Kirby Smart’s program, joining CJ Allen and Raylen Wilson. The Georgia recruit is the son of Todd Bowles, the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Inside linebacker coach Glen Schumann is responsible for recruiting Bowles. The LB enjoys Schumann being a young coach and being able to connect with the players.
“It’s mainly because of player development and definitely the opportunity there. People think that they get all these linebackers, so you are not going to play. But it’s not like that. I think I can come in there and work, and I feel like the opportunity is there to get developed with the lifting, nutrition and support. Just all that stuff factors in and then, obviously, the coaching is great. Athens is also a great college town, but it’s quiet at the same time. So, you get the best of both worlds.”

A Look at Troy Bowles
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound LB plays football at Jesuit High School in Tampa, FL. In his junior year, he compiled 103 total tackles, six tackles for loss, and three sacks. His performance awarded him with Maxpreps second-team Junior All-American honors. Jesuit’s program went 15-0 and won Florida’s 6A championship.
The linebacker ran track this past spring and played basketball his first two years of high school.
Troy Bowles sits at No. 26 on ESPN’s Class of 2023 Top 300. The third-best outside linebacker in the country has an 86 scout grade.

In Conclusion
With Bowles’ commitment, the Bulldogs land their 14th recruit and add their 10th four-star athlete. Georgia climbs to No. 6 on 247Sports national recruiting rankings for the Class of 2023.
If all three of Georgia’s committed linebackers sign, this could be one of the most skillful trio of freshman linebackers to come into Athens. The Bulldogs are known for their incredible defense, and it looks like the talent will not be vanishing anytime soon.
