Travis Kelce has been all but quiet throughout his NFL career. From winning two Super Bowls to becoming Taylor Swift’s “guy on the Chiefs,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end just keeps making history. And Sunday afternoon’s game was nothing short of that.
Travis Kelce’s Unprecedented Feat
At just 34 years old, Kelce became the fastest tight end to reach 11,000 career receiving yards and the fourth in history to do so. This milestone came with Kelce’s 27-yard catch in the second quarter of the Chief’s win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
This record came in Kelce’s 154th NFL game, as he surpassed Hall of Famer Tony Gonzales, who held the previous record of 191 games. Kelce needed only 15 yards to hit the 11,000 mark, and he tallied six receptions for 91 yards in the 31-17 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
Kelce is the first and only Chiefs player with 11,000 receiving yards and he just continues to build his Hall of Fame resume. He ranked in the top four for career receptions and receiving yards for a tight end, is an eight-time Pro Bowler, and is a four-time All-Pro. Kelce also holds the record for the most 100-yard receiving games for a tight end and will most likely reach the mark for his eighth 1,000-yard season this year.
It goes without saying that if Travis Kelce keeps it up, he will go down in history as the greatest tight end of all time.
