Travis Hunter Blatantly Ignored Former NFL MVP Ahead of Colorado Game

A former NFL MVP went to check out the Colorado Buffaloes this week, but their best player did not want to even meet him.

Travis Hunter and Colorado are balling out in their first Big 12 road test of the season, and they must be super locked in coming into this matchup. Hunter has been beefing with another NFL player this past week, and now, it appears he may have created another enemy in former MVP Cam Newton.

Over the last two seasons, many stars have shown up to watch Colorda given their star players on the team and their superstar head coach. That was no different today as former MVP Newton came to watch them and their many future league players.

Newton was seen on the sidelines before kickoff and he is seen trying to clearly say what’s up to the best college football player Hunter. As Newton attempted to walk up to the superstar Hunter as he was preparing for his game, Hunter blatantly shrugged him off.

Hunter was clearly getting ready for a game that he would absolutely dominate in, and it may not have been anything more than that. No matter who you are, if you’re trying to get in his face as he prepares for his game, he may just shrug you off. He was in clear focus for this matchup which they were the heavy underdog.

He is balling out on both sides of the field, with 9 catches, 79 yards, and a receiving touchdown, as well as lockdown defense and an interception.

When Cam tried to get his attention he dismissed him and locked in on his drills with his teammates:

Interestingly enough, the former MVP Newton received very similar treatment from Colorado’s star quarterback Sheduer Sanders ahead of the game. The QB chose to lock in on his drills as well, which highlights just how locked in as a team they are!

While many may feel like this is disrespectful, anyone who has played the game, or any sport for that matter, knows that you are in a certain head space ready to dominate. That is if you are a competitor. It seemed like each of these stars meant no disrespect to the former MVP, but rather they were just supremely focused on the task at hand.

Travis Hunter Is The Best Player in The Nation

Most analysts around the sport view Hunter as the best player in college football. This is not the second strange interaction with former NFL players, Per Andrew Kusleika of Hridiron Heroics:

Richard Sherman, who was on the “St. Brown Podcast” with Detroit Lions star Amon-Ra St. Brown and his brother fellow NFL wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown, explained that Hunter’s wide receiver skills were “bland.”

Amon-Ra agreed with Sherman, saying that Hunter is more impressive as a defensive back than a wide receiver. Hunter has expressed a desire to continue playing both ways at the next level, but almost no one thinks anyone can do so at a level as intense as the NFL.

Hunter wore a ‘bland’ shirt in his pregame warm-ups today as a jab back to Sherman’s comments

Hunter should be the Heisman this year as he has been absolutely incredible on both sides of the field, doing things that have never been done before in each game he plays.

he can dominate on both sides of the ball, getting 37 receptions for 472 yards and five touchdowns as a receiver and 14 total tackles, two passes defended an interception, and a forced fumble as a corner.

He added another touchdown and interception amongst other stats this game, and there is still time to go. But one thing is clear: do not get in Hunter’s way as he is prepping for a game.
