NFL Super Bowl champion Richard Sherman and Travis Hunter have a little beef going between them all in good fun. They have been going a bit back and forth between Hunter and Sherman after the former NFL cornerback took some shots at Hunter specifically as a wide receiver. Clearly, Sherman wants Hunter to be a cornerback when he comes to the NFL.
Richard Sherman called Travis Hunter ‘BLAND’ at Reciever
Per Andrew Kusleika of Gridiron Heroics:
Sherman, who was on the “St. Brown Podcast” with Detroit Lions star Amon-Ra St. Brown and his brother fellow NFL wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown, explained that Hunter’s wide receiver skills were “bland.”
Amon-Ra agreed with Sherman, saying that Hunter is more impressive as a defensive back than a wide receiver. Hunter has expressed a desire to continue playing both ways at the next level, but almost no one thinks anyone can do so at a level as intense as the NFL.

Now Hunter has slapped back, as he wore a very specific pregame warmup shirt to send a message to the former champion. To make things more interesting, Hunter has always looked up to Sherman, as he too played receiver in college and switched to cornerback in the NFL.

After Sherman called him bland at receiver, Hunter revealed that the comments hurt him, especially as he is a big fan of Sherman and has watched him throughout his playing career:
“It hurt me because I look up to him. He didn’t mean for it to go out that way. I grew up watching him, I modeled my game around him. He apologized to me,” Hunter said.
Sherman apologized later on, but Hunter must have still taken it a bit personally, as all amazing athletes do. He rocked up to the game today wearing a ‘bland’ shirt and is now absolutely dominating the game on both sides of the field.
To say he is the best college football player is an obvious statement at this point. Sherman must just want Hunter to play the same position as him when he comes to the NFL and said this in a strange way to encourage that. Receivers get paid just a little bit more than cornerbacks, and that may be the deciding factor for Hunter.
For now, take a look at Hunter’s pregame shirt:

Hi is balling out in their game today, and doing it at receiver and cornerback. He has already gotten an offensive touchdown and has been playing lockdown defense so far.
On the season, Hunter has proven that he can dominate on both sides of the ball, getting 37 receptions for 472 yards and five touchdowns as a receiver and 14 total tackles, two passes defended an interception, and a forced fumble as a corner. Incredible, and all-time stuff from Hunter so far this season and he has been doing it when the game is on the line.
Sherman will have to continue to walk back those statements, as Hunter takes the football world by storm. Hunter also went on to ignore another NFL star ahead of the game!
