Indy’s second preseason game ended similarly to its first. The Colts fell to the Lions 27-26 in a close contest. The game came down to the wire and Indy failed to convert a two-point try late in the fourth quarter.
Ehlinger continues to shine
Sam Ehlinger is making a name for himself in the preseason. Ehlinger went 9-11, for 136 yards, and threw 2 touchdowns. He continued to show poise in the pocket and connected with Indy’s receivers. Additionally, he showed mobility and command of the offense.
Indy’s main quarterbacks are Matt Ryan and Nick Foles. If Ehlinger continues to improve, he may end up on another NFL team and compete for a starting job.

One of the biggest questions for Indy’s offense is who will step up behind Michael Pittman Jr. Indianapolis has young and unproven receivers. Indy’s receivers showed their talent against Detroit. Third-year receiver Dezmon Patmon had a productive day. Patmon caught a long touchdown and ended the day with 5 grabs and a 103 receiving yards.

Second-year receiver Michael Strachan showed his talents as well. Strachan began training camp on the pup list. Strachan made plays when he returned to practice. Against Detroit, he used his 6-5 frame to haul in a touchdown from Sam Ehlinger. He finished the day with 3 grabs and 45 receiving yards. If Indy’s receivers continue to make plays the Colts’ offense will be in good hands during the regular season.
What about Dayo Odeyingbo?
Dayo Odeyingbo didn’t have a regular NFL offseason when he was drafted. With a regular offseason, Odeyinbo is making the most of his opportunities. During the game, Odeyingbo recorded 3 tackles and 2 sacks. The Colts need to improve their pass rush and Odeyingbo can help them during the season.
