The Green Bay Packers have already filled holes in their roster after a disappointing finish to their 2021 season. They used high draft picks to address linebacker, defensive tackle, and wide receiver. However, there is one position that they should consider bolstering before week one: cornerback.
While the Packers trio of Jaire Alexander, Eric Stokes, and Rasul Douglas figures to be one of the best starting trios in the league, they lack depth. Losing Chandon Sullivan to free agency leaves the nickel corner position to one of those three, none of whom have played inside with much frequency. There are a few free agent, veteran corners still available that the Packers could sign for cheap.
AJ Bouye

Bouye played 10 games for the Panthers last season before a foot injury placed him on IR. Carolina released the 30 year-old to clear cap space. A Pro Bowler in 2017, Bouye’s best days are almost certainly in the rearview. However, he’s a capable veteran whose versatility would add much needed depth to the position. Bouye played spent plenty of time in the slot last season. He recorded a respectable PFF grade of 66.8 in 2021.
Joe Haden

This is another guy on the wrong side of 30, but the focus here is to get someone who can jump in and be productive immediately. Haden has proven he can be that guy. The former first round pick can line up anywhere, and would add valuable experience to a fairly young secondary. He logged a starter-level PFF grade of 63.4 in 2021.
Xavier Rhodes
Rhodes had a terrific 2020 campaign with the Colts, but saw his production dip in 2021. After signing Stephon Gilmore this offseason, the Colts decided to move on from Rhodes. Given how well the Florida State product played just two seasons ago, it’s not unreasonable to assume he still has plenty left in the tank. Rhodes put up a PFF grade of 61.8 in 2021.
