The Texas Southern University Tigers (1-3) of the SWAC of the West Division traveled to take on the UTSA Roadrunners (2-2) of Conference USA.
The TSU Tigers was coming off of their first win of the season against the Southern Jaguars of the SWAC West Division. The Tigers are currently 3rd in the Southwestern Athletic Conference West Division
The Roadrunners were coming of a loss to the Texas Longhorns of the FBS-level BIG 12 Conference.
TSU Tigers Recap
The Roadrunners opened the scoring with a touchdown. The TSU Tigers tied the score with a four-yard run by QB Andrew Body. On the ensuing kickoff the Roadrunners took the lead with a kickoff return for a touchdown. In the second quarter the Roadrunners scored again to go up 21-7. The TSU Tigers scored 10 unanswered points with another four-yard touchdown run by QB Andrew Body. K Richard Garcia III kicked one through from 30-yards away for a halftime score of 21-17.
In the second half the Roadrunners scored two touchdowns to extend their lead to 35-17. The TSU Tigers battled back with a 33-yard touchdown pass from QB Andrew Body to RB Jacorey Howard. That was as close as the TSU Tigers would get as the Roadrunners ended the game on a 17-point run for a final score of 52-24.
Tigers Defense
The TSU Tigers defense was lead in tackles by S Alijah Muhammad and LB Tarik Cooper with five tackles. CB Cedrick Williams had four tackles. CB Nahamani Harris had four tackles and a forced fumble. S Charles George Jr. chipped in with two tackles and a forced fumble.
It was a solid effort by Texas Southern in the first half, but UTSA proved to be too much in the second half. The TSU Tigers will be back it is still early in the season.

The Texas Southern University Tigers (1-2) will host the Alabama State University Hornets (2-2) of the SWAC East Division on October 1, 2022 at 7:00pm (EST)
