Terry McLaurin is undoubtedly one of the most underrated wide receivers in the NFL today. The two-time Pro Bowler had yet another spectacular campaign for the Washington Commanders, and his efforts didn’t go unnoticed as he was given his due.
Tyler Sullivan from CBS Sports recently released his list of the Most Valuable Player for each NFL team for the 2023 season, with Terry McLaurin rightfully representing the Washington Commanders.
“The fifth-year veteran continues to produce with less than ideal quarterback play, and 2023 was no exception,” Sullivan wrote. “But those numbers don’t even do justice to McLaurin’s impact on the offense. That said, with another thousand-yard season, McLaurin became the first player in franchise history to cross that threshold in four straight years.”
“Is there a more underrated wide receiver in the NFL than Terry McLaurin?” added Sullivan.
Terry McLaurin’s 2023 campaign by the numbers
As mentioned, Terry McLaurin is one of the rare bright spots for the Washington Commanders in 2023. The 28-year-old has recorded at least 1,000 yards and at least four touchdowns for the fourth year in a row with Eric Bienemy as his offensive coordinator and Sam Howell as his quarterback.
Terry McLaurin also led the Washington Commanders in receiving yards (1,002), targets (132), yards per game (58.9), and receptions (79). The Ohio State product’s best individual game of the season came in the Washington Commanders’ 28-20 loss against the Rams, where he had six receptions, 141 yards, and one touchdown.
PFF also gave Terry McLaurin a 75.1 player grade this season, but one can argue that number might’ve been higher if he had a better supporting cast around him.
What’s next for Terry McLaurin and the Washington Commanders?
Right now, the Washington Commanders have hired Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn to be their next head coach after they fired Ron Rivera. They were dead last in the NFC East this season with a putrid 4-13 record.
As for Terry McLaurin, he has always been a dependable player since he was drafted by the Washington Commanders in 2019, so it’s safe to say that we can expect more of the same from him.
