The Tennessee Titans shocked the football world when they announced that they were parting ways with head coach Mike Vrabel after six seasons. Considering he had a 54-45 record and three playoff appearances with the Titans, many expected him to land another job quickly. Now, we finally may have an inkling of where Vrabel could be heading.
Mike Vrabel Interviewing With Los Angeles Chargers
According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Mike Vrabel traveled to Los Angeles today to interview for the Chargers’ head coach position. This is the first known head coach interview that Vrabel has done since he was fired from the Titans. However, Vrabel is going to have some competition.
Jim Harbaugh to the Chargers?
Before this interview leaked, the Chargers did confirm that they interviewed another big name in the football world for their head coach position. That name was Jim Harbaugh.
He is the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines and has been since 2015. Recently, he won his first national championship with Michigan during that tenure. However, it was centered around a lot of controversy.
Harbaugh was suspended for three games of the regular season by the Big Ten. The reason was that the Big Ten felt that Harbaugh was responsible for actions by members of his coaching staff during Michigan’s alleged sign-stealing scandal. This was met with a strong response by Michigan personnel for the rest of the season. However, it could also push Harbaugh towards the NFL.
Mike Vrabel and Tennessee Titans Moving Forward
If the Chargers do decide to go with Harbaugh or another candidate, it will mean that Vrabel has to keep looking for a job. Luckily, for him, there are still plenty of head coach positions available around the NFL. One of them includes the Tennessee Titans, who are still looking for Vrabel’s replacement. After firing their head coach and likely losing star RB Derrick Henry this offseason, the Titans now need to find the best way to move forward.
