Jermod McCoy entered the transfer portal back on Dec. 5. The Oregon State defensive back was immediately one of the top options available in the portal at his position.
Now, we know where the young defender will be playing in 2024. McCoy took to social media to announce that he will join the Tennessee Volunteers.

As a freshman in 2023, Jermod McCoy collected 31 tackles, 7 pass defenses, and 2 interceptions.
McCoy was originally a 3-star prospect out of Whitehouse High School in Texas. However, due to McCoy’s impressive freshman performance, the corner was rated as a 4-star transfer prospect.
McCoy picked the Vols over Texas A&M, Oregon, Oklahoma, and others.
“Tennessee checked all the boxes,” McCoy said. “They offered opportunities because they had two corners leaving and the coaches were straight forward with me and my family.”
The young defensive back praised the Tennessee coaching staff, specifically defensive backs coach Willie Martinez.
“I loved Coach Martinez,” McCoy said. “He showed me how I fit into the defense and they play a mixture of press man and zone which I think fits my game.”
The Vols have seen Doneiko Slaughter, Tamarion McDonald, Warren Burrell, Jack Luttrell, Brandon Turnage, De’Shawn Rucker hit the portal this offseason, so there are plenty of opportunities in this secondary.
Jermod McCoy joins tight end Holden Staes and safety Jakobe Thomas as D-I players that have transferred to Knoxville thus far.
