Another Eagles Player Calls Out the Field in Super Bowl

The Super Bowl ended five months ago, but the game is still being talked about. Philadelphia Eagles Tight End Dallas Goedert said, ” If the field was better, if we were playing on turf you know I’d take us 10 times out of 10.”

Goedert acknowledged that both teams played on the same field. Goedert caught six passes for 60 yards.

State Farm Stadium has all-natural grass. Field managers watered the grass before the game. The field never dried in time. Players slipped on the field during the game.

Goedert wasn’t the Eagle blaming field conditions. Eagles Defensive End Brandon Graham and Safety C.J. Gardner Johnson also blamed the field. Graham said the Chiefs’ offensive line was blessed because the Eagles’ top pass rush couldn’t pressure Mahomes. Philadelphia’s defensive line recorded 70 sacks in 2022. Philadelphia’s defensive line recorded zero sacks in the Super Bowl.

Gardner Johnson changed cleats throughout the game, but still had trouble getting traction.

    My Perspective

I find it funny that multiple players blamed the field. The Super Bowl score was 38-35. The Chiefs didn’t blow out the Eagles. Philadelphia was up 24-10 at halftime. Despite poor conditions, the Chiefs managed to come back and win the game. The Eagles are upset they lost the game after dominating teams in 2022. Losing doesn’t feel great and the Eagles got a taste of defeat.

Blaming the field is interesting because as mentioned before the field is grass. NFL players complain about playing on turf. Grass fields need to be watered so the grass is healthy. Seems like it doesn’t matter if it’s grass or turf. Players will still complain.

    Excuses, excuses, excuses

The Kansas City Chiefs have established themselves as one of the best teams in the NFL. Success comes with criticism. Kansas City has won two Super Bowls in the past four seasons.

Whenever the Chiefs win excuses follow. Fans said the Chiefs got away with holding in their Super Bowl win against the 49ers.

In the 2022-23 AFC Championship game. Bengals Defensive End Joseph Ossai pushed Patrick Mahomes when he was already out of bounds. The Bengals were penalized. After the penalty, Kansas City kicked a game-winning field goal to beat the Bengals. Excuses were made about the penalty and some fans said the Chiefs were blessed by the referees.

The Chiefs came back from a 10-point deficit against the Eagles. Mahomes led the Chiefs to a victory with a high-ankle sprain. Excuses still rang after their victory.
