Senior Bowl 2023: 5 To Watch

    Overview:
The Reese’s Senior Bowl is a week long post season showcase for prospective NFL players leaving college and entering the NFL draft. The festivities culminate in an all star game played on Saturday. Located in Mobile, Alabama, this game has meant the world to me since I could remember. As an Alabama gulf coast native myself, I was always fortunate to attend this amazing event & the festivities during the week numerous times. One of my fondest memories as a child was watching my uncle, Chris Samuels, play in the game himself. It is one of the biggest opportunities in the pre draft process.
That being said, the Senior Bowl is all about business for the prospects & teams. All 32 NFL teams will be represented in some capacity. This week is an opportunity to not only compete against some of the best college prospects in the county, but have personal meeting time with teams as well. Just as much will happen behind the scenes as it will on the practice/game field. In short, this week can tremendously hurt or help your draft stock. Here are five guys to watch at the 2023 Senior Bowl.
    5 To Watch
    Maryland T Jaelyn Duncan 6’6 305:
Duncan is already a consensus top 60 pick. However, i believe he has as much to gain as anyone this week in Mobile. Teams are beginning to delve into the tape more and i believe that will only help his stock. His freakish athletic ability is something you don’t see often at the offensive line position. With an impressive week in on field drills and great meetings off of it, he can jump into 1st round territory.

    Terps LT Jaelyn Duncan

    R/S Senior 6’6 320 lbs

Versus Ojabo & Hutchinson, he flashed. I liked his lateral movement, kick slide quickness/depth, and toughness.

Hand placement & pad level needs improving. Overall, an intriguing OT prospect to watch! pic.twitter.com/pWfwSL4opJ

Georgia DB Chris Smith 5’11 195:
Chris Smith is not only one of my favorite DB’s, but one of my favorite players of this entire draft. The only real concerns here are size and speed. The tape is undeniable. A lot of those questions will be answered at the combine/pro day. Regardless, i predict Smith will turn heads at Senior Bowl practices and especially shine in the interview process. Keep an eye out for this ball player.

UGA FS Chris Smith is a joy to watch, fills the alley extremely well from depth. Triggers downhill, taking an excellent angle and stops the back in his tracks out in space.

Football IQ + versatility, should be a day two pick. pic.twitter.com/TjWz6MSHrq

Auburn EDGE Derick Hall 6’3 255:
Derick Hall will continue to rise as this pre draft process goes on. This week at the Senior Bowl will spearhead that ascent. 1 on 1’s will be a huge showcase for Hall and a huge opportunity to show off some extra tools along with that patented speed to power pass rush. The stage is set for Hall.

Derick Hall, man. Ball player. Intelligent. Crazy twitch in striking range & VIOLENT hands. Not featured in these clips, but he sets the edge & takes on doubles as good as anyone not named Will Anderson in this class. pic.twitter.com/qqVNHePRBd

Michigan WR Ronnie Bell 6’0 190:
Bell is an interesting prospect. He was the most productive receiver on one of the best and most notable teams in all of college football. Yet, he still seems to go under the radar when discussing this wide out class. I think that starts to change with a huge week at the Senior Bowl. Look out for Bell in 1 on 1’s and pass skelly drills.

why is nobody talking about ronnie bell? his day 2 value is as good as any WR in this class imo. no reason he can’t step into a gabe davis type WR2 role & have instant impact. pic.twitter.com/QsxKxKxFUV

    Cody Mauch T NDSU 6’6 300:
Mauch is mocked fairly high, but he has as much to gain (& lose) as any top prospect. A good week can catapult him firmly onto the first 25-40 picks. A week where he struggles against some top end talent can raise small school concerns. I believe in his ability. As a former FCS prospect myself, I full well understand how important stages like this are and look for him to solidify himself amongst the best.

If you ever wondered what it meant to take a defender to the woodshed, just watch Cody Mauch.

Excited to see what he does aginst higher-level competition next week at the Senior Bowl. pic.twitter.com/qY8CpDMbVV
