Pete Carroll is going to have to right the ship quickly. The Seattle Seahawks are clinging to a playoff spot right now but have a brutal schedule coming up. They already took a huge loss on Thanksgiving and the offense didn’t look good. Carroll seemed upset with the direction of the offense and took a subtle shot at offensive coordinator Shane Waldron.
Seattle Seahawks Pete Carroll Takes Shot At OC Shane Waldron
The offense was only able to score two field goals. While the 49ers’ defense is full of studs, with the weapons the Seahawks have they should be able to muster up some points. In a press conference on Friday, Carroll had this to say about the offense.
“I want to make sure we’re maximizing the personalities and have make sure we’re using the guys as well as we can use them. Make sure that we’re choosing the best routes for the guys — We have unique talents, and we’ve got to make sure we’re maximizing that. I feel like we’re not. I feel like we’re not seeing stuff.”
He doesn’t come out and say it but reading between the lines on this comment makes it seem like Waldron isn’t getting the job done according to Carroll.
No Shortage Of Weapons
It isn’t like the Seahawks are talent-deficient. DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba are a great receiving trio. While Kenneth Walker was out, rookie Zach Charbonnet looked good in relief. Geno Smith definitely hasn’t had a year like last season but he is far from a bad quarterback. The offense simply can’t seem to find their footing. It wasn’t just Thursday night either. They lost the to Rams the week before and only scored 16 points. For a team that has this many weapons, they should be putting up more points.
Is Carroll trying to deflect blame? Often when teams struggle the coordinators are the first to go. The Seahawks can still recover and make the playoffs but it definitely will not be easy.
