The Seattle Seahawks extend offensive lineman

The Seattle Seahawks are looking to build on their success in the 2022 season. They over-performed compared to what many analysts thought after they traded Russell Wilson last offseason. Much of their accomplishment had to do with the rise of Geno Smith, whose status for 2023 is up in the air. However, the team extended an offensive lineman’s contract for next season to maintain stability.

According to Aaron Wilson with KPRC, the Seahawks will bring back offensive guard Phil Haynes for the 2023 season.

Haynes appeared in a career-high 15 games for the Seahawks in 2022. The 2019 fourth-round pick started in three regular-season games. Pro Football Focus gave Haynes a 57.1 overall grade for the season. During the regular season, Haynes gave up four sacks and 18 pressures in his 332 pass blocks. He also had four penalties. Haynes played at left guard to start the season but played at right guard from Week 5.
