Seahawks Key Stats
The Seattle Seahawks struggled in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Rams. Quarterback Geno Smith could not get going as he was 16-of-26 for 112 yards and a touchdown. The offense was completely shut down as they finished just 2-of-9 on third down attempts.
Wide receiver DK Metcalf was the only Seahawk to find the end zone as he had three receptions on five targets for 47 yards and a touchdown. The rest of the receiving core had trouble getting open and finding separation throughout the game.
The defense has to improve as Seattle allowed 30 points on 426 total yards. Los Angeles dominated going 11-of-17 on third down against the Seahawks. The Seahawks cannot expect much success with the defense being on the field for 39:23 as the offense has to figure out a rhythm in Week 2.
Lions Key Stats
The Detroit Lions picked up a road win over the reigning Super Bowl Champions and it was based off the offensive line keeping a clean pocket for quarterback Jared Goff. He went 22-of-35 for 253 yards and a touchdown pass. Running back David Montgomery also contributed on the ground as he had 21 rushes for 74 yards and a touchdown.
The defense did an incredible job as Patrick Mahomes was held to 21-of-39 for 226 yards with two touchdowns and one interception as well as six rushes for 45 yards. Without tight end Travis Kelce and the receivers having multiple drops, the defense was able to control the game. Brain Branch was able to record a pick-six to solidify the victory as well.
Game Prediction
Seattle should be able to bounce back after a miserable performance in Week 1 and Detroit had a huge victory that could make them overlook this game. Expect Seattle to generate more pressure than Kansas City was able to and make Goff’s day a lot tougher than it was in the opening game.
While Geno Smith is likely not going to have a similar season to last year, Detroit’s defense does not have the secondary options to contain DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba enough. While the Seahawks on the moneyline is intriguing for the value, go with Seattle getting 5.5 points on the road to have a resurgence in Week 2.
